Fennel, surprisingly, is part of the carrot family, with an edible white bulb to use in salads, pastas or pizza. With a particular taste, either you like it or hate it, fennel has an aniseed flavor, that characterizes it. Crispy, it becomes softer when cooked. This vegetable is crunchy, sweet and contains a lot of nitrates, as well as being a natural source of estrogen.
